“Rectification of people” can be called the classic personality of Confucianism. “White Tiger Tongyi·No.” says: “What is the name of morality?” [1]48 The ability to respect morality is the characteristic of righteous people, and self-cultivation of virtue is the “compulsory course” for correcting people. “Travel Notes: Gifts” says: “Eating men and women is the desire of a person.” [2]607 “Food” is one of the most important desires of a person, and it is also the most important.It can be used to test the strength between nature and virtue, and “eat” the ethics and character value that is relevant to people. “Eat” is nature, and “how to eat” is civilization. “At the beginning of the ceremony, I started to eat”[2]586. “Gifts in One” is a unique dietary thinking in China. Pre-Qin tribute car production is closely related to dietary activities. Diet is linked to life, individual growth, marriage, reproduction, ethnic group and society. It is a biological link that has continuously spawned a series of gift civilizations. Confucianism first integrated the “cultivation” of food with the “governance” of gifts. Confucius, Mencius and Xunzi were all trying to turn “eating” into social, political and ethics topics. This is the right meaning of Chinese character philosophy. 1. Traditional interpretation of “eating”

 

A civilian attitude and treatment method for the desire for food and sex occupy the main part of civilization. “Mencius: Gaozi 1” says: “Food and color are nature.” [3] Eating men and women is the nature of human beings. Previous people stayed in the old ways of sexual problems between men and women, and even stopped sanitizing and infarction. Their attention to “eating” was very frequent, and even involved in various civilization areas. There are rich food instruments and related records of diet civilization in “Shangshu”, “Pen”, “Legends”, “Book of Changes”, and “Yu Family”. “Shangshu·Wine Sayings”: “L is drunk and drunk.” [4] 377 “Pen·Xiaoya·Chuts”: “When the filial piety sacrifices, the gods are fond of eating.” Zheng Xuan said: “When the filial piety sacrifices of the slightest, the girl has a sweet taste for the nose, and the girl has a lot of money to enjoy the sacrifices of the slightest, and the gods are fond of eating the daughters.” [5] Even the gods worshipped by people will have a desire to sacrifice to the nose, so why should people? “The Book of Changes·The Sutra” says: “It is auspicious. It is easy to understand. Seek the truth.” [6] Oral food is self-cultivated, and food is a basic need for people. It can be seen that the desire for the mouth and belly is widely recognized and valued in classical literature.

 

“Eating” is a natural nature, and “how to eat” will involve economics, politics, history, civilization, customs and other fields. “The Book of Changes·Xu Gua·Xiang” says: “A correct person is cautious in his words and eats.” [7] “Eating” is in harmony with the virtue and character, and his desires are unscrupulous and he does not speak in a regular manner. If he does not speak in a regular manner, he will have bad moral character and a bad style of a person. Lao Tzu said: “To govern a country is like cooking small food.”[8] Politics and diet are closely related, and the two have a cooperative management method. Therefore, “Historical Records: The Legend of the Continent” says: “The king regards approaching people as heaven, while approaching people as heaven.”[9] In “The Fifteen Lectures of Traditional Civilization in China”, he wrote: “In China, eating is not just eating, but also an activity that can extend to all things.”[10] It is enough to see that the diet is good.The radiation of Chinese traditional civilization is extremely broad and in-depth.

 

The ancient saying goes, “The disease comes from the mouth”, and the relationship between diet and health is more direct. Confucius said: “What you are careful about is: qi, war, disease.” Zhu Xi notes: “Illness is the reason why my body dies and is preserved.” [11] Disease is a matter of life and death.
